9/17/2023 0 Comments Photography iowa scenery![]() ![]() Located five miles south of Dubuque, Crystal Lake Cave is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places to visit in the state of Iowa. ![]() Crystal Lake Cave Source: Pookeesmom / Flickr | CC BY-SA Crystal Lake Cave The bridge is named after Chief Black Hawk of the Sauk tribe, who were involved in an uprising in 1832.ħ. Opened in 1931, the bridge is a stunning piece of engineering, boasting one of the more unusual designs of any Mississippi River bridge. Popularly referred to locally as the Lansing bridge, Black Hawk Bridge is a crossing over the Mississippi River from Iowa to Wisconsin. The Capitol Building is a must-visit location for anyone who wants to see stunning architecture, while the best day out to be enjoyed in Des Moines is arguably at Iowa State Fairgrounds, Blank Park Zoo, Pappajohn Sculpture Park and the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden are also well worth visiting. The capital of Iowa, Des Moines is also the most populous city in the state and is home to many of the most popular tourist attractions in Iowa too. Des Moines Source: Henryk Sadura / shutterstock Des Moines The grotto was given a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001 and jasper, quartz, topaz, calcite, stalactites and stalagmites can all be seen at the Grotto of the Redemption.ĥ. More than 100,000 people head to the grotto every year, with some $4 million worth of minerals and rocks having been used to create this beautiful place. Frequently described as the eighth Wonder of the World, the Grotto of the Redemption is a series of nine grottos that each depict a scene from the life of Jesus. The largest man-made grotto in the world, this Iowa institution is a must-visit for anyone heading to the state. These three states have unique and special geological sites and plenty of water resources (rivers, creek, lakes, world class springs and seepage areas) and open landscapes.Iowa, nicknamed The Hawkeye State, is located in the Midwestern US and offers some of the most beautiful and spectacular sights and places to visit! Just browse through these awesome pictures and be amazed by it’s beauty. However, because of this anyone who does stop and take the time to explore will find something that most people do not think of photographing. You make images no one else has, unlike in the western USA. ![]() What makes this area special, most landscape photographers have never taken the time to be here in the Midwest. With the great American West along with coastal states available to most landscape photographers it is easy to fly over or drive through these three states without a thought of stopping. When one thinks of great landscapes, Missouri and the two other Midwest states, Iowa and Illinois, do not come to mind. ![]() Casey doesn’t usually present his works in an online format, so prepare yourself for a real treat! What follows are the writings and photographs of Casey. This is actually much tougher to do than placing your tripod in the holes dugout by the throngs of photographers chasing the iconic landscape subjects. I am much more interested in finding hidden gems without a plane trip or a multiday car ride. This article is exactly my philosophy when it comes to landscape photography – what little I do of that these days.
